Sync project clients to Sage Accounting
Pro and above
Sage Accounting (Sage Business Cloud Accounting) keeps your clients in step with your invoicing: sync a project and its client is ready to invoice in Sage, with no retyping.
Connect Sage and choose your business
Open Settings → Integrations and pick the company in the Company box.
The Sage Accounting card is in the Accounting section. You need to be an owner or admin of that company.
Click Connect Sage Accounting, sign in to Sage and allow access.
Sage asks for full access because adding a contact is a write — Sage offers no narrower permission. The Site Book only ever reads your list of businesses and finds, adds or renames customer contacts. Sage sends you back to The Site Book when you're done.
If your login runs one Sage business, it is linked straight away. If it runs several, choose one in Sage business for this company and click Link this business.
The card then shows Connected with the linked business name. Unlink from company removes the link for this company only; Revoke my saved credential removes your Sage login from The Site Book and every company link that uses it.
Sync a project's client
Open the project's Overview and click Sync with Sage in the Export & share card (or inside Documents, export & share).
A message confirms whether the client was added to Sage, renamed, or already matched a Sage customer. If it says Sage isn't connected, click Go to Integrations to connect it for the company that owns the project.
Raise the invoice in Sage Accounting.
Open Contacts in Sage — the client is there as a customer, ready to invoice.
Frequently asked questions
What does Sync with Sage do?
It adds the project's client to your Sage business as a customer contact, using the client name, email and phone from the project's details (or the project name when no client is set). If Sage already has a customer with exactly that name or reference, it uses that one instead of making a duplicate, and never changes it. If The Site Book created the contact on an earlier sync, it updates that same contact — renaming it if the client's name has changed. A contact that already exists keeps the email, phone and address your accounts team set in Sage. It never creates invoices.
My Sage login runs more than one business. Which one does The Site Book use?
The one you choose. After you connect, the Sage Accounting card on Settings → Integrations shows a Sage business for this company list — pick the business this company invoices from and click Link this business. Each Site Book company is linked to exactly one Sage business, and every sync for that company's projects goes there. A Sage business can only be linked to one Site Book company.
Sync with Sage says the Sage business is no longer available. What do I do?
Your Sage login can no longer reach the business this company was linked to — for example, your access to it was removed in Sage. Click Go to Integrations, then on the Sage Accounting card click Reauthorize Sage Accounting, sign in to Sage with a login that can reach the business, and link it again.
Connecting Sage says my login has no Sage Accounting business.
The Sage login you signed in with doesn't run any Sage Accounting business, so there is nothing to link. Click Connect Sage Accounting again and sign in with the Sage login your business uses, or ask whoever runs your Sage to invite you.
Which plans include Sage Accounting?
Pro and above, including Business and Site Control. Only an owner or admin of a company can connect it and link a Sage business, and Sync with Sage uses that person's own Sage login — so the person who linked Sage is the one who syncs. If a colleague tries, the message says Sage is linked with a colleague's login and asks them to have that person sync the project. Site supervisors cannot sync.
