Site Control: entrance QR, contractor self-join and gate policy
Site Control
On Site Control, your project's Access tab adds the Smart Gate: a permanent Site entrance QR contractors scan to join and check in — CSCS captured, induction enforced, attendance recorded.
Set up the entrance
On the Access tab, find Site entrance QR and click Create QR.
Click Print poster to build a print-ready entrance poster.
Or Copy link / Open to use the URL directly. Regenerate and Disable control the token.
Pick your Gate sign-in policy.
Balanced, Controlled, Trusted firms or Open — how strictly newcomers are held at the gate.
What the contractor does
They scan the QR on their phone: new people send their name, company, CSCS card number and a photo of the card, and must tick the induction acknowledgement before Contractor check in unlocks. Depending on your policy they're checked in immediately (CSCS verified after) or held for review.
Review join requests
Pending requests appear under Self-join requests on the Access tab — each shows the CSCS number with Open CSCS upload, and Approve / Reject buttons. Approved contractors join the project's portal users and their check-ins flow into attendance.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone check in without doing the induction?
No — induction acknowledgement is a hard gate in every mode. The check-in button stays disabled until they've confirmed the induction.
Do I have to approve every contractor manually?
Your choice — the Gate sign-in policy sets it: Balanced (sign in now, verify CSCS after — recommended), Controlled (everyone waits for approval), Trusted firms (known companies go straight in), or Open (lightest checks).
What happens if the QR poster leaks off site?
Treat a leaked QR as live: in Balanced and Open modes a newcomer who acknowledges the induction can sign in immediately (CSCS is verified after). Hit Regenerate or Disable on the Access tab straight away — the old QR stops working immediately — or switch the gate policy to Controlled so everyone waits for approval.
