Generate a Construction Phase Plan (CPP)
Available on all plans
Open your project, go to the Documents tab and start the CPP. The AI sets up the site management and risk sections from your project details while you work through the steps.
The signed-in mobile app can also generate the full plan: from the project's Documents tab, tap + Generate document, choose Construction Phase Plan, and fill in the site management, risk-and-safety details — principal designer, architect, client contact, start date, access, deliveries, permits and more. The site-management and safety details you fill in also save to the project; leave one blank and the project's saved value, shown greyed in the field, prints. Submit needs current write access and an eligible project; if Submit loses its connection, the saved request can be checked and its original version reopened.
When you regenerate the plan in the app, the plan-only details start from your current version: the start date (falling back to the project's), Prepared by, Approved by, public protection, asbestos, permit-to-work and environmental. A field you clear leaves its section out of the new version. If your account prints a default approver, the editor shows that name read-only in place of Approved by. The new version keeps the site photos in your current version and adds any photo ticked Include in CPP on the project's Photos screen; the editor says how many. If your current version was made before those plan-only details were kept with it, a note at the top of the editor names the ones to re-enter, with an Open version button to check them against that plan. After a version is generated in the app, its saved answers are cleared, so the next regeneration starts from that version. If answers saved in the app predate your current version (for example, because it was made on the website after they were saved), the app asks first: tap Start from version N to use the current version, or Keep my saved answers.
Walk the wizard
On a phone, the Step 1 of 6 · Project Team bar above the wizard shows where you are — tap it to list all six steps and jump back to any you've completed.
On signed-in mobile CPP steps that offer Suggest with AI, wait for the draft and choose Use this, Edit & use, or Discard. The wizard keeps Next and Submit unavailable until you make that choice, so suggested text cannot be applied to another step or omitted from the submitted CPP.
Mobile draft saves run in order. Start fresh clears the previous draft without an older background save restoring it. A successful mobile session refresh keeps your answers when the app can verify the same account and project. When an older server omits the account scope, the refreshed form reloads any saved draft and retires pending work; switching project loads that project’s own draft.
Project Team — confirm who holds which CDM role on the job.
Site Management and Risk & Safety — review the AI's pre-fill.
These sections auto-fill from your project (you'll see "Setting up your site safety plan" while it works — skip it if you'd rather fill them yourself). Adjust anything that doesn't match how you'll actually run the site.
Welfare & Emergency — confirm welfare arrangements and emergency details.
Site Photos — add photos if you have them (optional).
Review & Suggestions — check the flagged items, then click Create CPP.
What the AI pre-fill will and won't say
The AI drafts only from your project's own details — it never invents site facts (existing roads, gates, parking, surveys, building age) or people's names. Anything your project doesn't record is written as "to be confirmed" rather than guessed.
So for the best pre-fill, complete your project and site details before generating — and always review the pre-filled sections before you approve.
The lightweight CPP for small domestic jobs
If your project qualifies (domestic client, you're the only contractor), the wizard opens in its lightweight form automatically — fewer questions, proportionate output. You can switch to the full wizard from inside it if the job needs more.
In the signed-in mobile app, the lightweight editor asks who prepared the plan and shows the current project scope, client, risks and welfare. Change those facts in Project details or Site safety before generating. An older mobile CPP draft is retained for explicit review before the lightweight editor may replace the shared CPP draft. A lost Submit response can be checked from Resume Lightweight CPP generation with the same saved request.
After generating
Your CPP unlocks RAMS generation when you're running the job. Open the document to Download the PDF or Share a read-only link with your client or principal designer. CPPs don't collect worker sign-off — that's what inductions, toolbox talks and RAMS are for.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a CPP for a small domestic job?
CDM 2015 requires a construction phase plan for every construction project, sized to the job. For straightforward domestic jobs where you're the only contractor, we offer a lightweight CPP — the same document type, proportionate content.
What's the difference between the lightweight and full CPP?
The lightweight wizard is a shorter path for domestic only-contractor jobs. You can switch to the full wizard at any point if the job warrants it — both produce a proper CPP.
Is the CPP free?
