Site Safety Setup: fill the 11 details that unlock your documents
Available on all plans
Every project has 11 mandatory site safety details — things like site rules, fire strategy and first aid arrangements. They're filled once, and each detail feeds the core documents that use it (fire strategy appears in all four; emergency scenarios only in the emergency plan). Until all 11 are complete, the four core documents — CPP, RAMS, site induction and emergency plan — stay locked.
The Site Safety Setup flow collects them in three short steps. Open it from the project overview — click Complete safety details, or the Site safety details progress card showing how many of the 11 are done. A locked document card on the Documents tab ("Complete your site safety details (X of 11) to create this") takes you to the same place.
Work through the three steps
The 11 fields are grouped into three steps: Site rules & welfare (Site rules, Welfare facilities), Risks, training & fire (Key risks, Training requirements, Fire strategy, Fire assembly point) and Emergency & first aid (Emergency procedures, Emergency scenarios, Utility isolation points, First aid arrangements, Nearest A&E).
On a desktop, the step names sit across the top; on a phone you get a compact header instead, like "Step 1 of 3 · Site rules & welfare", which opens a sheet listing all three steps. Only steps before your current one can be clicked (or tapped in the sheet) to go back — moving forward is always the Next button.
The "Site safety details — X of 11 complete" bar under the steps updates as you type, and each filled field gets a Done badge. Fields still empty are marked with an asterisk.

For Nearest A&E, click Look up nearest A&E from the site address.
It finds the closest A&E from the project's site address, so the button needs an address on the project first (add one on the Details tab).
On a PCPP-sourced project, review the pre-filled fields.
The flow opens with "We filled N of 11 from your PCPP" and tags those fields From your PCPP — confirm or edit them rather than retyping. See Site Info for how the PCPP upload itself works.
Finish, or save part-way
Move between steps with Back and Next.
On the last step, click Finish setup — or Save progress if fields are still empty.
Everything you've typed is saved to the project either way, and you're returned to the overview. If fields are still missing you'll see exactly which ones ("Saved X of 11 — N still needed"), and the core documents stay locked until all 11 are filled.
Edit any detail later on the project's Details tab.
The fields are single-sourced — the setup flow and the Details tab's Safety / Emergency Information sections write the same values. Regenerate a document after changes: existing PDFs are frozen snapshots and won't update themselves.
Frequently asked questions
Why are my CPP, RAMS, induction and emergency plan locked?
Those four core documents only generate once all 11 site safety details are filled — they draw on these fields, so generating without them would produce unsafe blanks. Lightweight CPPs and Toolbox Talks are exempt from this lock, though Toolbox Talks have a separate prerequisite of their own: on projects where you're running the job, the Documents tab keeps them locked until the project has a generated RAMS ("You need your RAMS before this — create it first"). The locked card on the Documents tab says how many safety details are still needed and takes you straight to the setup flow.
Do I have to finish it in one go?
No, but save before you leave — your answers only live in the browser until saved. Click Next through to the last step (Emergency & first aid), where the finish button reads Save progress until all 11 are filled; clicking it saves everything you've typed across all three steps. You'll get an honest count of what's still needed, and the core documents stay locked until every field has something in it.
Where do I edit these details later?
On the project's Details tab, under its Safety and Emergency Information sections — the setup flow and the Details tab edit the same single-sourced fields. Remember that generated documents are frozen snapshots: after changing a safety detail, regenerate a document for the change to appear in it.
Why do some fields say "From your PCPP"?
If the project was created from an uploaded PCPP/PDF, the AI extraction pre-fills what it found and the flow opens with "We filled N of 11 from your PCPP". Fields it filled carry a From your PCPP badge — review and confirm or edit them before saving, and fill the ones it couldn't.
