Download free blank templates (PDF and Word)

Available on all plans

Each free template page has a blank template you can download as a PDF or an editable Word file. They're free and you don't need to sign up.

Where to find each template

RAMS: the RAMS template and free RAMS generator pages.

Method statement: the method statement template page.

Risk assessment: the risk assessment template page.

COSHH assessment: the COSHH template page.

Toolbox talk, with an attendance sign-off sheet: the toolbox talk template page.

Site induction, with an induction record sheet: the site induction template page.

Construction phase plan: the construction phase plan template page.

Permits to work (hot work, confined space entry, permit to dig, roof work and electrical isolation) and inspection registers (scaffold and excavation inspections, and ladder, MEWP and plant pre-use checks): the permits and inspection registers page, under Permits to work and Inspection registers and pre-use checks.

Some guides also offer the matching form near the end of the page, for example the hot works guide and the scaffolding safety guide.

Download a blank template

  1. Open the free template page for the document you need

  2. Find the Download a blank … template box

It shows the file size of each format.

  3. Click Download PDF or Download Word (.docx)

The file saves to your device. Fill it in for the actual job and site before you use it.

When to use The Site Book instead

A blank form leaves the job-specific content to you. If you'd rather have the document written for your job from a description of the work, create a free account and generate it in The Site Book. You still review it against the site before you use it.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to download the blank templates?

No. The blank templates are free to download from our free template pages without signing up.

What is the difference between a blank template and a sample?

A blank template is an empty form you fill in yourself. A sample, shown on the free RAMS generator, construction phase plan template and site induction template pages, is a filled-in example from one job. A document made in The Site Book is written for your job from the details you give it.

Which format should I use?

Use the PDF if you want to print the form and fill it in by hand. Use the Word (.docx) file if you want to fill it in on a computer.

How is a free permit template different from a permit to work in The Site Book?

A free permit template is a blank form you print or fill in on a computer. On Pro and above, you can issue permits to work in The Site Book instead, from Permits to Work in your project's Documents tab: each permit records the work, its location, the precautions, a start and end time, and who issued and received it.
